A family weekend with breathing room.
Plan one main outing each day, protect a rest break, and leave your last morning light. A good weekend doesn’t need a packed itinerary.

Before you book
Ask each child to choose one thing they’d like to do. Compare the options with your budget, travel time, and the adults’ energy. Pick the main attraction first, then confirm its operating calendar before choosing dates.
Arrival day: make it easy
Keep the first evening simple. Eat, unpack the essentials, and decide what time you need to leave in the morning. A late drive is a good reason to skip an ambitious evening plan.
The full day: one big thing
Visit your main attraction, with a meal and rest window built into the plan. Carry water, weather-appropriate layers, and a backup activity. If the kids need a shorter day, treat that as useful information, not a failed itinerary.
Departure day: leave a margin
Pack before breakfast and avoid a time-sensitive attraction if you have a long drive. Check checkout rules with your accommodation.
